When I started to meditate, I got very frustrated. All kinds of stuff would be running through my mind. I would think about yesterday or catch myself worrying about something minor. But as I found out through doing a little research, I was doing it right. All I had to do was make the effort to come back to my breath when my mind started wandering. Even if it didn’t stay there long, I just kept trying to catch myself. Eventually, mind wandering happens less but be reassured it happens at every sitting. You can’t do it wrong!!
Ten minutes a day doesn’t sound like much. But It gives me a break from too much thinking about the past or even worrying about the future. Most of all it helps in keeping me focused on my daily tasks makes my life more enjoyable.
I do a Ten-minute meditation in the morning or late afternoon but it doesn’t matter when you do it morning or night. You will get the benefits. You will notice them after a few weeks.
For a guided meditation I found Johnathon Lehmann on the insight timer app which I keep on my smartphone. His voice is very soothing and comforting. There are hundreds of guided meditations on this app and one or more will become your favorite.
Here’s a link to his guided meditation. To make it easy for you to find I found a youtube meditation here but you can look him up on the Insight Timer below as well.
I keep my insight timer app on my smartphone. You can download it on your smartphone, iPhone, iPad or computer. There are many guided meditations to choose from. All FREE.
Meditation has become a very precious time of my day.
